AHA!

1. First AHA moment happened when I read that "Media" is the plural for "Medium" haha! Kind of a OH moment as well, then a good "shoulda had a V8" slap to the head when I realized I should have realized that sooner haha!

2. Second AHA moment happened when we watched the movie "This film is not yet rated". I had never noticed that, although we rely on the film rating system, we don't quiet know who we are relying on to tell us what is right and what is wrong. This completely changed my view of the rating system and I now have a lot of watching to catch up on lol.

3. Final, and third AHA moment came when I watched Matt's presentation. I had never noticed how much violence I had watched as a kid when I watched Looney Toons and Disney, and how much it changed all my attitudes! I know can refelct and see where a lot of what I do by nature, actually came from the influence of early television viewing.

-I'm gonna miss all of you on a personal note! Anyone who wants to keep in touch I'm on facebook under Joel Araica, or text or call me anytime! 408-510-4180, Happy Pursuing everyone!

PR campaign

Here is my idea for a commercial that advises positive choices:

The camera pans out to a group of kids, gathered around a table and sitting in chairs. One kid opens the door to the room they are in and says "whats going on guys?" the smile on his face slowly disappearing as he enters and joins the group. "Sandra is dead" one kid of choice gender mutters from the group, while the others sulk and cry. "How....how did it happen?" as the kid sits down and joins the sulking. "Drunk driving, she was under the influence......again" the same choice gender kid mutters. As the camera falls to the center of the table and circles around, giving each individual face time as they now show themselves as they really are, young adults, each saying generic "sorry" messages like, "it was just one beer", " I never thought it could happen to her", "she said she was fine". All this ends to the last person, the person who came last saying "ignorance is for children, and drunk driving isn't an accident, its a choice. So speak, and let a friend know it time to stop, before its time to say goodbye." Im not sure if this is the kind of thing we were expected to do for this blog but yeah, i think i got the most of it!

Research Topic

My research topic is subliminal advertising and wether it exists or not. I have always been very interested in the advertising industry and the different methods they have for getting their products out there. Subliminal advertising is something hidden from "normal society" but never proven, almost like an urban legend. Well, I plan on cracking this one open and seeing just how effective hidden advertising can be, or how ineffective. The way I perceived subliminal advertising was that its a theory that paranoid movie go-ers have for why they crave the things they crave. Countless times I have walked out of a movie with Burger King written all over it or Marlboro in everyones faces, only to see kids and adults alike go from movie to burger/smoke. These images on the screen could be saying more than words can illustrate, therefore, I chose my topic as such.

Internet!

If i saw this right, Wikipedia has about 12,476 results for social working websites. I have never heard of any of these websites as I am not too big on "eCommunication", and, in addition, I have not heard of any that are not on the list.

The social website I chose happens to be the first one on the list on wikipedia, but also, one of interest. Crewster is a social website for members of the film industry to communicate amongst each other and find jobs and insight. A social working website is exactly that, a place where members of any community and come together to talk and collaborate on certain interests and ideas. A social networking site I use is Facebook.
A time where a social working site has gotten me in trouble is when I had a run in with a, for the lack of a better work, asshole who was in a relationship with one of my very close friends. This guy was verbally abusing my young friend and hinting a move into physical abuse. I then proceeded to message him on Myspace, telling him that Jennifer (my friend) has no idea i was messaging him, but he had two days to apologize and leave the relationship before I fix things myself, just as a verbal scare to get him away (promise lol). He then proceeded to get drunk, grab his friends and head over to my place where they were loud and destructive and calling me out. Being the big head I was i stepped out only to see the SJPD show up with their hands on their guns and their lights blazing. Sean (the "A" Hole) then told them all about the ethreat and all i said was "Breathalize him". He was then put in Juvenile Hall and received a restraining order. In a way it helped, but too much commotion for my taste.

Chapter 9: Television
Question: In what way has the FCC enforced the rules against "inappropriate" broadcasting?Where cant the FCC flex its strength?
Answer: Fees and contracts are given to public broadcasts so that any show in violation of these rules gets hit hard financially. The FCC has been kept from anything privately paid for or used such as Serious Satellite Radio and Pay Per View/ HBO.

Movies

My favorite movie of 2009 has to be Star Trek. Star Trek was very fun and enjoyable, a familiar story with a known cast and the special effects we all know and love. This movie is certainly one that treckies and CGI fans all enjoyed, as I did.

My all time favorite movie however would have to be Back To The Future, just for its simplicity in jokes and elevated plot and its reversed side in the complexity of the time machine and science. I first saw this movie on my T.V. when i was much younger, one of the first movies that got me into media.
